Maths without physics

Hi,
I am in yr 12, I am currently doing bio, chem, maths and fm and my original plan was medicine however i have lost interest in med.
I really find furthermaths interesting, but am not the best. Also at cambridge, 97% of maths offers had physics a level which i lack- although it is not a requirement. I do have a maths newsletter and mathscompetition for this supercuricullar.
I thought of chemistry as it is a bridge between the 2 but i am lacking supercurriculars for this and like the idea of maths a bit more.
Since cambridge doesnt offer only chemistry i would have to apply via natsci bio. Right now, im disliking bio a level.
What degree would u suggest?

If you really like maths, why don't you try seeing the entry requirements for maths courses at other unis? And if you find further maths interesting, try to talking to your college and see if you can take om further maths alevel as well, and there is nothing you can't be good in, if you believe in yourself you can do anything

This doesn't mean that that is why they got an offer - its just that many people taking Maths tend to also take a related science. If the course entry requirements do not state that Physics is 'preferred', it isn't. Marketing legislation means that all Unis have to be totally honest and up front about entry requirements - there are no secrets, or 'stuff they don't tell you'.

Have a look at Natural Science at other Unis - this multi-disciplinary program allows you to study a range of science etc subjects together and, importantly, the crossovers between those subjects. You end up being able to speak several different 'science languages' something really appealing to employers. There are also subjects like Pharmacy, Pharmacology/Drug Discovery, Neuroscience, Psychology, Immunology, Virology, Cancer Biology etc that use multi-sciences.

Courses you might find interesting:
Welcome to Natural Sciences - The University of Nottingham
Undergraduate | School of Cellular and Molecular Medicine | University of Bristol
Population Health Sciences (Data Science) BSc | Prospective Students Undergraduate - UCL University College London
Choosing between Pharmacy and Pharmacology
I think it's important to also understand what degree level maths is and what it is not. On the whole it is very dissimilar to A-level Maths and both in content and style often completely novel in comparison. Id recommend doing some reading around that - particularly looking at e.g. actual first year maths textbooks and trying your hand at some of the exercises after reading the first chapter or so.

If you like the more A-level Maths style of problem solving with calculus etc, then you might find the degree level maths quite different!

Also you don't NEED supercurriculars beyond wider reading - they're nice to have but not everyone has those opportunities and some people might find their interest in a subject too late to participate in formal structured activities that have a specific time schedule. If you're interested in chemistry I'd suggest so wider reading around it and if that's something you do want to pursue, absolutely conaider applying to it.

There is some maths in chemistry, particularly if you focus more on the physical chemistry side - not only some of the calculus and matrix algebra content you might be familiar with but in some areas potentially even some group theory for example (i.e. more maths degree topics too).

You dont have to apply to Cambridge, find what you want to study first and then figure out where you can study it
