TMUA Score Error

Hi, my son sat his TMUA in October and his score originally showed higher on his candidate portal.
We later discovered, only because he contacted one university to check they had received his score, that a lower score had been sent to universities.
We sent the test provider a screenshot showing the higher score on our side, they changed the score on the portal and said this was his score all along. Since then, we haven’t been able to get a clear explanation or any real help.
Has anyone else experienced something like this?

Possible mix-up due to the data mishandling on UAT-UK's side, which resulted in a lot of noise and cases similar to your son's. Unfortunate that it happened, but the actual admissions process remains intact and well.

But if they are sending lower scores then you can get rejected by the universities.

That higher initial score was probably never your son's to begin with -- it was a mistake, and belongs to someone else. They have sent lower scores in comparison, but the score they are sending is the one from the exam your son took in October.

Are you stating that he received a different score on Nov 14th when scores were officially released and this was then changed by UAT later on the portal when you queried why a university had stated that the score they received was significantly different?

If this is the case than no one can state that ‘the actual admissions process remains intact and well’

This could be the case for many students that have not asked universities if their scores tally with what they have on their portal ( higher or lower).

Literally shows how UAT have probably messed up results for many and are now just ignoring/blindsiding people!

Yes that is exactly what I’m saying - his score was higher from nov 14 till last week which is almost 2 months of the score showing on the portal and the applications being made accordingly.
But UAT is sending out a much lower score to the universities. The problem is not the lower score but if it was lower to begin with the choices would be different.

How can you be certain it was never his to begin with if it was showing as his result on the portal till last week? It wasn’t a mistake as he was expecting an even higher score than the first one given.

Expecting a higher score does not mean it's a mistake? I sometimes think I did well in exams too, only to flop. This does not mean the mark is incorrect, it simply means I did worse than I thought.

Anyhow, it's an unfortunate circumstance birthed from UAT-UK's mistake, and the actual results have not been tampered with. The bug is a UI <-> database mismatch, and you have had incorrect scores displayed to you.

Did the Uni change the TMUA score without confirmation from UAT?

No they received a different score from UAT and we received a different score on our portal, uni just confirmed that scores were different that’s all.
