Struggling to choose between degrees

I’ve applied to the ‘Digital Media and Culture’ course @ KCL but I’m hearing about how it’s not as creative based as I thought. I want a super creative career (was originally going to apply for Film Studies but my mum said no) but I don’t know what course to choose. I want to study at King’s but I can’t figure out what degree I want :frown: Any advice?

Apply to both then decide.

Hi togemaya, this is really normal, and you still have time, so try not to panic.

You can apply for multiple courses on UCAS, and even later on there’s Clearing, which isn’t a failure at all. I actually changed my course about two months before my start date and ended up going through Clearing, it felt scary at the time but honestly became a fresh start and worked out for the best.

If you’re after something very creative, it’s worth looking closely at module lists and assessments, not just the course title (Digital Media & Culture at KCL is more theory-based than people expect). Making a quick pros/cons list and going to open days or online events really helps.

It’s better to have something down than nothing and you can always change. Creative careers care a lot about skills and experience.

I wrote a short blog about changing courses/Clearing if it helps, which you may read here.
