For Mechanical Engineering, it’s not just placements that matter. You can use:
STEM SMART (definitely include this)
Personal projects (CAD, Arduino, fixing/building things)
Online courses (engineering, coding, mechanics)
Virtual work experience
Wider reading/podcasts/documentaries
In your personal statement, focus on what you learned and why it confirmed that engineering is the right career path for you. You don’t need loads of placements to be competitive; curiosity and problem-solving count just as much. You can also go through our Mechanical engineering course if you like to find out on this link - Mechanical Engineering - Canterbury Christ Church University

You don't need 'relevant work experience' for a Mech degree. Have a look at the suggestions for extra reading etc here - good for all Unis - Super-Curriculars and Resources | St Anne's College, Oxford
