How many jobs should I be applying per day or per week? Is it normal to apply for one job per day or should I be applying for more?

Hi @bingbangdiggery

I would say it depends how urgent it is that you need a job and how much free time you realistically have to be applying. Are you also studying?

You will also get out what you put in but it's not always about quantity of applications the quality is important.

A recent example I can give is from applying to a placement, I believe it took me around 12-20 applications before securing both of my placements, so it can take a while.

I hope this helps and good luck!

It's not about the number of applications, it's about the quality. How you go about job-hunting depends on what stage you are at - are you looking for a Saturday job in fast food or retail, or are you liking for a vacation role at uni, or a first career step, or are you in a career looking for a promotion?

I graduated with a psychology degree in June 2025 and I'm looking for a permanent job. I’m open to any nhs roles such as admin healthcare assistant or therapy assistant I don't really mind doing any other psychology unrelated job as long as it’s within the NHS, as that’s where I feel most confident working.

and l've only applied to 6 jobs since I've graduated .now I know that's really bad but I think I've just been burnt out all these months due to constant fear of rejection I don't know how many jobs I should be applying per day, the nhs jobs usually want responses tailored to the job specifications instead of generic responses so that really puts me off and and I have depression which it makes it harder for me to get up everyday and apply to a job where I have to start writing my answers from scratch and it takes me 6 hours to come up with the perfect response.

One job per day is decent.

Hi,

As mentioned above, there’s no fixed number, and quality matters more than quantity. It’s completely normal to apply for around 1 job per day or 5–10 per week, especially if you’re tailoring your CV and cover letter each time.

Hope this helps, good luck!
