Hi daisy 👋 👋

Tesco won't employ anyone under the age of 16 .

I would recommend you try applying to boots chemist as they employ people from the age of 15 upwards but like most other retailers they have a age restriction of 18 for certain departments in there bigger stores. I been working with boots part-time since I was just over 15 years old and love it.

Although when you apply for boots they might say 16 but they definitely take young people on okay, apply Via there own website - you'll have to make a online account first and afterwards search for jobs within your local area in all available boots stores and see how it goes, if you get through the application process you'll probably have to do a online assessment - very easy to do as questions are basically based on real life situations so read questions carefully.
If you pass this part you'll then be invited to do a in-store interview - basically it is a question and answers session and then you might have to do a few tasks on the shop floor and back for a final question and answer session and you'll get a opportunity to ask them questions as well.

Good luck with it 😄 😄 😄

A lot of places (especially the big companies) wont take people on until they are 16. Some also require you to have finished school (i.e. the end of june in year 11).
You will have more luck looking for independent places (e.g. independent cafes. restaurants, garden centres etc).

Information of boots chemist website.

Boots does employ people at 15 in the UK for Customer Advisor roles in most stores, but you must have finished Year 10 (school leaving age in England/Wales) and there are restrictions on working hours, with airport stores requiring you to be 18+; they also offer work experience for younger students.

Key Details for 15 Year Olds at Boots UK:
Age Requirement: You generally need to be 15 and have completed Year 10 (finished compulsory schooling) to be a paid employee.
Role: The most common role for this age group is Customer Advisor.
Location: Airport stores require you to be 18 or over.
Hours: Working hours are limited by school commitments and UK child employment laws, which Boots will discuss during recruitment.
Work Experience: They also offer virtual work experience for 14-19 year olds, which is different from paid employment.

Hey @daisy.buchanan

Thought I would just share these posts I have previously done to give you ideas of local and independent places you could find in your area to apply to

Where to apply for a summer job
Where to apply to a Christmas temp job

Although these are more seasonal posts, often these types of places are hiring all year round, plus it may give you some ideas.

I hope this helps and good luck!

How come you are a year ahead? Ive never heard of any schools letting people do that before.
You still have to be 16 to get a job though.

I'm homeschooled and skipped a year (go to online private school) I wouldn't be able to do that in a real school

Hopefully you'll find something that you'll enjoy doing.

Just remember that retailer's might put age 18 on there job adverts but you're still allowed to apply for them but with the age 18 restrictions in place..... ( For the future when you reach 16 )
