The Late-Night Submitter - 11:58pm 13 Jan. Here we go.

When an applicant presses pay/submit their application does not go to UCAS, instead it goes to their school/college and therefore this leaves the school/college in a totally unrealistic turnaround to compile/add the reference and predicted grades and then submit it to UCAS by the deadline. Anyone submitting their application to their school this late will likely miss the UCAS deadline.

Yes, just to confirm that if you apply via a buzzword then in most cases clicking 'submit' sends the app to your school/college. So if you try anywhere near the deadline time your application will almost certainly be flagged as late and any of your choices could choose to reject you on that basis.

UCAS:

"Applying through a school, college or centre?
They will let you know whether and when you should pay them, so they can pay us. Alternatively, they'll tell you to pay UCAS direct by credit/debit card, and you do this before the reference is added to your application.

They will then send your application to us on your behalf. They may even set you an earlier deadline to complete your application than the UCAS deadline you’re aiming to meet this will be to allow them time to arrange your reference for you."

And from the school/college POV:

"If you accept a request

‘Full application’ you will manage and send their application. At point of acceptance you can assign the applicant to a group of your choice.

‘Reference only’ the applicant will be added to the applications list and identified as a reference only application. You’ll be able to see the applicant’s details relating to their reference only. You will not be able to manage or submit their application to UCAS."
