I’m sick of working

I am so sick of constantly having to revise and work and all of that stuff. I’m so sick of constantly struggling with it. I’m so sick of people telling me to just try harder, or implying I’m not good enough. Humans are literally just animals, but when I react to stress like I’m biologically coded to then that makes me useless? We live on a spinning rock in the vast cosmos of space and somehow the most important thing is how hard you work? Literally nothing matters. I don’t think I have a future anymore, the world is steadily going downhill and call me cynical but I don’t think that it’s going to get better. I don’t care about getting good grades anymore. I am furious with the world. How the hell am I supposed to work through this??

I think the main thing you need to think about is what you might want to do in the future. Not everyone is good at everything and maybe there are certain subjects that you personally aren't that great at and honestly if you don't need them for your potential future career then you don't have to be good at it. I'm not saying don't try, of course you have to, but once you've taken the exam knowing you've done enough to make you pass that's all that matters. And the biggest thing to keep in mind is that everyone is different, so no matter what don't compare yourself to others, and definitely don't let them put you down about it either. And please take breaks, if you revise and revise and revise all you're going to do is burn out, which won't be good for your grades or your mental health. Just remember to do it for yourself and not for other people

Do you have any hobbies or interests? It sounds to me as if you are spending too long on revision - exams are a marathon and not a sprint. You need downtime built in to survive.

I do, but unfortunately because I struggle so much with actually working rather than procrastinating I don’t have any time to relax because I never get enough work done, and my parents get annoyed with me if I prioritise hobbies over studies

It's not a case of putting hobbies above school work but building in time for both.

How do you study? Short times like 30 minutes then a 10 minute break are more effective than planning to work for two hours.

You're not even work working yet. As in working to earn money. Too many people work in boring repetitive Groundhog Day type jobs. Or jobs that they hate. Just because they feel that they're in circumstances where they need that next wage payment.

It seems that you've got a good head on your shoulders. And that you can take a zoomed out look at your life.

I think that you're right to rebel against the study hard regime that your parents, your school and yourself are you putting you under.

Have you had a good clear logical think about what areas you'd like to try as a way to earn money?
There's plenty of ways to earn good to fantastic amounts of money where your academic achievements are unimportant.

Maybe one way to look at it is to regard your academic life as a big board game? One where you will try to win, but it's no big deal if others come ahead of you.
And then when that game's over it will be time to play The Game Of Life.

When you get to the summer after your A levels, you will have complete freedom over your life. You can do anything you want with your time. That is a glorious, magnificent, miraculous gift. To have conscious life and freedom.
It makes sense to pack as much adventure and (non-self destructive) pleasure into your life as you can. Therefore it makes sense to get the money earning side squared away sooner rather than later.

The world is getting better in many respects. Better technology all the time. Better scientific understanding of things, including how to maximise your chances of living to your 90's in good health.

Take advantage of the good things and mitigate the bad things.

Be aware of SAD Seasonal Affected Disorder. The Winter Blues.

Be aware of the sorts of foods and drinks that promote bad moods and those that promote good moods.

People have complete freedom over their lives and the choice to do what they want. As far as I know you are only here once. This means that if you aren't enjoying something, you need to decide if you want to continue doing it.

It is a myth that you need to complete A levels or a degree of any kind. I know people with very few formal academic qualifications and yet they are able to live very accomplished lives and earn plenty of money.

Life is all about the squeeze and the juice. One has to weigh both.
