What sets York apart from other Law schools is our use of problem-based learning. This approach is at the heart of our teaching and ensures you experience and understand law in its social and theoretical contexts. It also helps to develop the skills and techniques you will need to work as a professional. Students work in student law firms of around a dozen students. Each week you'll work together to break down complex legal scenarios in a similar way to how practicing legal professionals might. This approach will help you learn to think like a lawyer and develop the practical skills that will aid you in your future career.
All our students also have access to our Careers and Development Programme. This programme puts on a variety of networking and employability events throughout the year, often involving law firms and industry experts. There are also a number of other opportunities such as Link Days, CV workshops, mentoring schemes and a large alumni community you can access through a LinkedIn page. You can find out more about the programme here.
I hope that was helpful. If you have any more questions, feel free to get in touch with York Law School's undergraduate team at [email protected]. Or I'll do my best to answer here.
