A Level chemistry and current pharmacy students

Current pharmacy students, did you ever struggle with A Level chemistry. I wanted to pursue pharmacy but Im rethinking my decision as I'm starting to struggle ALOT with chemistry and starting to think that pharmacy may not be the right choice : (
Hi there 😊

I'm a current pharmacy student at Bath.

I would say struggling in chemistry doesn't necessarily mean pharmacy isn't for you. A lot of current pharmacy student including myself found A-level chemistry difficult especially the jump from GCSE to A-levels so you're not alone.

Chemistry in pharmacy is a little different than A-levels as you're looking at medicines, the body and real life scenarios. A lot of the pharmacy courses have more emphasis on clinical aspects and there is still chemistry throughout the course but not too the intensity as A-levels.

I think if you're interests align with healthcare, problem solving, don't let A-level chemistry scare you. At Bath, in first year they're really helpful with the chemistry aspect of the modules by offering tutorials and workshops alongside the lectures.

If you're passionate about pharmacy, don't give up because of A-level chemistry. Have you tried speaking with your teachers to go over content your struggling with?

I hope this provides you with some assurance!
