Asking for a friend (she does English). Grade requirements are the same for both, so which one? Poll coming!

Southampton because I think its quite up somthing. I shall say no more.

Southampton seems fairly down to earth from what I can tell from here. My methods of choosing university are quite unordothdox though as I can think out of the box.

Although Durham may be a great university, it's in the middle of nowhere
Therefore I'd have Southampton as my insurance choice.

Know nothing about either university. But Southampton is a lovely place, nice huge shopping centre and has a Fitness First gym (which if you are a girl, can get 2 weeks free, from Always).

hmmm - loathe one love th other.....pretty straight forward choice for me

Seriously though they're two VERY different unis....it shouldn't be hard to choose which one your friend would be happier going to for 3 years.
In what ways are they so different? Other than the size of the town they are in?

Blooming firefox just ate my long fact based reply to this (and I have lasagne to make  )....

but aside from the factual differences the atmosphere at the two places is VERY different (IMO)...I've found that most people who feel comfortable/happy in one haven't felt anything like as happy in the other.
Hehe ok sorry, I won't keep you from your pasta dish!

You mean differs? Anyway, I wouldn't have thought the difference was that clear in the English department, given that she's been given the same offer from both.

I'd pick Southampton anyday. The English course looked much more interesting to me than the Durham one. And it's a better city too. Just out of interest, what were the two offers? I thought that Durham made AAA offers
