Oxford undergrad college reallocation ?

Hi, I recently got an offer to study Japanese at Oxford and I'm really excited. I'm just confused though, because I got reallocated to a college I didn't apply for 😅 Initially I had sent in an open application and then was allocated to Wadham. Did the interviews, didn't get invited to a third one, but my offer is from Hertford. I'm not complaining, just confused lol. Did anyone else get reallocated despite not sitting a third interview ?

Yeah, happens all the time. Essentially, they wanted to admit you but the college you were originally allocated to was full, so you were allocated to another college.

Massive congratulations by the way

Nice!! I applied for Persian at Pembroke initially, but ended up being pooled to Wadham. I think some colleges specialise in certain AMES courses, like Wadham which specialises in Persian. Whilst I did do a third interview, I was speaking to a 4th year Persian student and he said that in his cohort everyone got automatically reallocated to Wadham for convenience so maybe this is the case?

Probably ! I heard Hertford is Japanese & Chinese only for their AMES so that's probably the case. Glad to see I'm not the only one who applied for AMES though xp
