What university have the best diversity

Hey there!
Brilliant question, though sadly there is no single answer. You can often find that Universities in more dense populations such as London will have better diversity due to the larger pool of students from different countries, similarly those who prioritise international students can also see this!

Universities in more rural locations such as small towns may not see as much diversity in terms of ethnicity but often will see a lot in terms of disability and neurodiversity due to having the ability to focus on accessibility, with larger campuses and spaces. All are equally important and you can often find stats on a University's diversity based on their inclusion policies and Student Union work. Sadly, every survey acts differently and ranks on different things so you will often find differing views. I would recommend looking up some recent graduate stories and attending open days from your University of choice to learn more from the students who go there.

Hope that helps!

This depends enormously what you mean by 'diversity' - and I'm assuming you mean racial or ethnic diversity. Some Universities have a very high % of overseas students - LSE as one example has 66% overseas students and the majority of these are Chinese - other Universities have a high % of UK BAME students. But Uni stats will tend to mix these up and can therefore be misleading - LSE clearly is not 'diverse' if you mean 'lots of difference', and not 'UK diverse'.

And if you look at stats like these - Black Student Success and Challenges in UK Universities - it includes 'African, Caribbean and other Black backgrounds' . What does that mean - those coming from those places (who may be white), UK students claiming that identity, or those from overseas etc etc. If you want a more complicated read try - UAL Ethnic Representation Index 2023 - and you will start to realise some of the issues when you try to 'measure' this.

The other issue here is why do you want a high 'diversity'. Does this mean that that course will be magically more academically appropriate for you, that it will interest you more, that that Uni will have every facility you want, or that you will like being at that Uni?
