Oxford open offer

My Daughter has received an open offer from Oxford.

She is concerned that she may end up at a college she initially ruled out (teaching style/location/rooms/facilities)

Assuming she gets the grades. What are her chances of getting the college she applied for? (Brasnose)

Or will she be placed wherever there is space following rejected offers?

Can she email noting her preference for certain colleagues over others? (Eg hidden disability (college aware) would prefer less stairs, and a ground floor room)

Congrats to your daughter on the offer!
Open offers are done based on vacancies after the dust is settled (from students not meeting their offers etc.) The chance of your daughter getting a specific college is slim though, since Brasenose spots will have been taken up already.

But, you should absolutely communicate your daughter's needs if she has a disability or other issue that they can accommodate. Beyond medical requirements though, do not specify or rank colleges.

Teaching style should not vary between colleges as it is mostly decided by departments.

The purpose of open offers is to deal with the reality that some people will miss their offers. Therefore she will go where there is space. She will have an underwriting college and that will have first right of refusal (ie if they lose a candidate on results day they will take her) but other than that it could be anywhere that offers her course. Therefore she can’t specify a preference. If she would rather not study at Oxford than be at a particular college she is obviously free to turn down the place on results day.

The truth is that nearly everyone becomes attached to their college once they start and colleges are great at building community, and all colleges have their own unique features and charm, so try to encourage her to look at it as a positive and an exciting surprise for results day.

All colleges will have accessible accommodation available and will be required to make adjustments for disability. If she declared the disability on her UCAS form the college that takes her will know on results day. If she didn’t declare it, she should contact them as soon as her college is confirmed so they can make sure she is allocated to suitable accommodation.

Yes. Everything was declared in her application. She feels very lucky to get an offer. It’s purely anxiety on her part for adaptions.

Thank you for confirming everything. We were told some didn’t have adapted accommodation, but it seems the truth is that some have more adapted rooms than others.
