Your application will be marked as late, but Universities can still consider you if They still have places available and The course hasn’t filled up yet

Offers are not the same as 'places'.

Hi,

You aren't in any way completely without hope. UCAS has stated in their Adviser-guide-2026-v2 that “Universities and colleges give equal consideration to all applications received by the relevant application date. They may consider applications received after this date if they still have vacancies, but they don’t have to.” This means UCAS doesn't automatically reject your application. However Universities aren't obligated to consider the application as it is late. Hope this helped, and if you have any more questions, just ask.

You could always call UCAS and confirm whether the app has been flagged as 'on time' or not. At five minutes over there is a chance either way.

Unis also often apply their own grace period so things are far from hopeless.

(Sidenote: this is why we constantly tell people not to leave it until the last day, much less anywhere near the deadline time.)

Yup, I gave them a call, the effective deadline for equal consideration was 6:15pm

Heyo!
I'm sorry to hear you had site difficulties. It may be worth contacting the UCAS team to see if it has been marked as late and if anything can be done considering the circumstance. Otherwise do not stress out too much as if a University has offers left after handling their non-late applicants, they can still offer you a place! Your application will still be considered fairly. If you do not get an offer there is also clearing which you can go through to secure a University spot, though this opens up a lot later and needs to be handled directly via the University's of choice through their helplines. Do have a ring to see if anything can be done as you may never know, particularly if UCAS are in fact at fault.

Hope that helps,

They’ve already called them as per the post above yours.

Hi @Thhhggfyhhgrrhh6 ,

I'm sorry to hear you were unable to submit on time, however any application after the deadline will likely be submitted as late, unless UCAS stated otherwise when you contacted them. You may find extremely competitive universities and courses are unlikely to take late applications as they are not within the equal consideration deadline. However there are still plenty of options as not all courses fill up! 😊

I highly recommend giving this article on late applications a read. You may find it helpful!

I hope this helps, please feel free to ask me any questions,
