Hey! I’m starting Music Production at York St John Uni. Besides what the uni provides, what personal kit or equipment did you find essential but had to bring yourself? Any tips or things you wish you’d known? 🎧🎹

I have a friend that is in his final year of Music Production here @YSJ, and have asked him to provide some info to answer your query...
The more basic equipment that is recommended for you to have would be a pair of good quality headphones (recommend Audio-Technica Studio M30X Monitor Headphones which can be picked up from Amazon), as well as a decent sized hard drive with a backup to save and transfer work. If you already have a laptop with a DAW then that is preferable, too.
However, while lecturers do like when people have these things, it is not a requirement!
