Is it true that men are hierarchical in friendships

ChatGPT told me that men are very hierarchical in their friendships, and won't befriend a man of lower status or lacks masculinity. Is this true?

You can't exact generalise or try to define the friendships of every single guy. I just tend to befriend any guy who I get along with. I don't think in most peoples friendships status or masculinity plays that much of a role.
Obviously not true lol. Maybe among some alt-right incel types who spend all their time watching Andrew Tate and voting for Trump/Farage, normal men do not do that lol.
Another episode of “ChatGPT made it up”. The kind of thing that if you challenged it about, it would probably grovel and apologise about.

Aside from the obvious problem that Chat GPT probably wouldn't be able to definitively tell you in a cogent way what it means by "lower status", and it certainly wouldn't be able to tell you what it means by "lacks masculinity", no, it's obviously not true.

It’s definitely not true. Guys (like girls) tend to have friends who share similar values, beliefs or worldview. I don't think social hierarchy decisions come into play unless they are horrible people.

I do think some guys may not be friends with certain lads who they consider to lack sufficient levels of masculinity. For example, a guy may be put off if they find out another lad did not defend a woman who was being harassed by a predator.

For some people who want to seem stronger than they actually are, it may be the case where they try and act in charge and superior. But in groups of men who are truly friends, no one cares because they try to enjoy themselves. There may be situational heirarchy, in my case, I play a game with some chaps called Tactical Assault VR, and we're all chill and equal, except when it comes to planning and objectives, in which there is an individual who naturally fell into the place of leader, but we are all equal
