Advice for ODP university interviews

I am so stressed,

My BCU interview for ODP is on the 16th and I absolutely did not realise it would take 2.5 hours long and that would overlap with my northumbria interview for ODP. I feel so guilty and I have so much anxiety. I've rebooked my northumbria interview for the 20th Feb. I still feel so guilty because I replied yes for the interview. Everything is going so wrong! And I know it's my fault since I should've checked.

Does this affect getting an offer? I hope not.
I sent the interviewer an email apologising. I don't know if that would make it better.

My Sheffield Hallam interviewer never showed up yesterday. But I've rebooked it to the 21st January.
How was the interview for Sheffield hallam, Northumbria, UCLan and Birmingham city? Did they ask about the NHS Values and constitutions?

It's fine to rebook interviews and unis won't hold it against you.

There are some good tips on preparing for healthcare interviews in the following thread:

Although you might not receive direct questions on NHS values, if you are asked about work/volunteering experiences, try to relate to the values in your replies.

Interview questions can't be shared on the TSR forum as it gives an unfair advantage to those who follow. There are some tips for preparing for interviews here:

Hey @CaelusK

As said above, unis won’t hold it against you for rebooking your interview and questions can’t be shared.
Here’s a previous post made on paramedic interview tips - many of which are applicable to other healthcare courses !

——————————————————————

I had no idea where to start when preparing for myparamedic science interview, so here’s some tips Iwish I had! These will also be applicable to many other allied health professions courses.

•🚨NHS Values + 6Cs - Research these and try and link these values to personal experiences.

•🚑HCPC code of conduct - The HCPC is the regulatory body for paramedics and other allied health professions. It’s good to understand what is expected of you.

•🚨Understand the career - This may sound likean obvious one to some but as a paramedic youwon’t always be responding to life-threateningcalls. You can attend a wide range of patients in aday. Make sure you properly research the career prior to your interview.

•🚑Have an understanding of some latest topics of discussion in the field, upcoming research, challenges faced, etc.

•🚨Dress smartly - whether your interview is in person or online, it’s good to show the interviewer that you have made an effort.

•🚑Show your passion and know why you want to be a paramedic!

•🚨Reflect - Not everyone will have previoushealthcare experience (and that’s okay!) Make sure to reflect on the experiences you have and how they will help you as a paramedic.

•🚑Be realistic about challenges - university canbe a stressful time and you may be exposed todifficult experiences on placement. How will you cope with these and know when to seek help.

•🚨Ask something at the end of the interview.

Finally, it’s okay to be nervous! Interviewers are expecting it.

Hi @CaelusK,

Thank you for your message and patience. I didn't study this course or interview for any similar but we do have a handy page full of tips and ways to prepare for our university interviews. We know interviews can be nerve-wracking, but we want to make your experience an enjoyable one.

The interview is also a good opportunity for you to ask questions to make sure we're right for you. On this page you’ll find some advice, what to expect on the day and as well as where to find your subject specific guidance. You can find out more here: Preparing for University Interviews & Auditions

Feel free to ask if you have any university life questions or need assistance or you can email our admissions team via here.

Best of luck,
^Zac

Understand ODP pro and cons compared to nurcing.
Understand the ending of AA pathway.
Think what you will do after working as a ODP for ten years.
Do you wish to focus on equipment or people.

There are no correct answers, but show you have investigated and considered the issues.
