Which UK uni is best for architecture?

Hi everyone! I'm planning to study architecture in the UK, coming from CBSE with good results and strong maths and science. I'd love to hear which universities you chose, why, and what student life is like. What would you recommend I focus on most—reputation, portfolio help, teaching, or something else? Thanks for your tips!

I would suggest looking at the QS world ranking- it currently has UCL first. Also look at other sources as they suggest Cambridge or Loughborough, or Sheffield.
I would also suggest you looking at each course in the unis. UCL offers a very creative course, whereas Bath offers a more mathematical/ engineering course.
Most universities require a portfolio- this will help you stand out from the rest of the candidates also applying. Make sure you have a strong portfolio if you are applying for high-ranking universities (the competition is no joke!)
Don't look at the ranking only, do look at the kind of course the universities offer. Just because it's a good university doesn't mean the course will also be good (for you).

Affordability? Look at tuition fees and accommodation costs too. What type of environment would you be happy living in - a busy city, a campus university? Are good transport links to airports important to you?

Reputation is hard to define and a top-ranking uni doesn't mean you will necessarily thrive in that environment. A culture of bullying over several decades at The Bartlett/UCL was exposed a few years ago: https://www.theguardian.com/education/2022/jun/09/ucl-apologises-for-bullying-and-sexual-misconduct-at-architecture-school. If you can, try to visit some departments to see where you would feel comfortable studying and living for 3/4 years.

Some suggestions: Cambridge, UCL, Manchester, Portsmouth and University of York
