Best University for art up north?

I've applied to Newcastle which is my number one choice and I've applied to ysj but considering substituting my choice for Sheffield hallam? Any advice would be helpful and anyone who has been to either ysj or Sheffield hallam for fine art please feel free to tell me of your experiences!

All three are solid choices but they do feel quite different. Newcastle has a strong creative vibe and good industry links, so it’s great if you want a lively city and strong portfolio support. YSJ feels more personal with smaller classes and a really supportive atmosphere in Fine Art. Sheffield Hallam also has good facilities and a friendly creative community, plus Sheffield as a city is affordable and artsy. If you want more one‑to‑one time and a close knit feel, YSJ is great; if you want a bigger city and broader opportunities, Newcastle or Hallam might suit you better. Trust your gut about the studio vibe when you visit!

hey, I was just wondering, as you mentioned newcastle, if you have heard back? I submitted my UCAS at the end of october, and submitted my portfolio in early december, and I haven't heard anything. It's really stressing me out as newcastle is by far my favorite, does anyone have past expereince of the process and how long they take to respond?

Newcastle is also my favourite! I haven't heard back but I sent in my portfolio mid January, it might be due to the high volume of portfolios they have recieved but honestly I would've expected them to answer you by now, maybe try ringing them to see if they can give u a rough estimate of when you will know if you have an interview or not? I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help!
