Foundation Year

If I apply for a foundation year course, but I get higher then expected grades at the end of my exams is it possible to skip the foundation year?

Looking at UWE and Nottingham trent

Hello,

If you end up meeting the entry requirements for the degree then probably yes. But that will then depend on the university’s vacancy on the course (without the foundation route). It is better to email them directly for best advice.

Hi @Krishav,

It might be possible to skip the foundation year if your final grades are higher than expected. Admissions can review your results and see if you meet the requirements for direct entry into Year 1.

I’d recommend getting in touch with them at [email protected] once your results are confirmed. They can also tell you if there’s space available on the standard course and guide you on the next steps.

All the best!

Hi @Krishav,

Wishing you the best of luck in your upcoming exams!

It is possible to change your course after you've applied, as well as after you've received your results, especially if you've done better than expected and want to move from foundation entry to year 1 entry. This depends on whether there is space available on the course when you get in touch, and, in some cases, we may get in touch with you once your results are confirmed to discuss your options.

You can get in touch with our Admissions team here, who can discuss all of your options with you, both now while you're planning and once you receive your results. They may have more tailored advice for you based on your application, so it's always worth checking in!

I hope this helps, let us know if you have any questions!
