Fashion design university choices help

I have received so far 3 offers to study fashion design, one for Manchester Metropolitan University, one for Leeds arts university and an offer from Loughborough university. I’m waiting on Edinburgh and Glasgow.

I’m very stuck as what choice I should make. I have spoken to someone who’s in her last year at MMU and it seems perfect for me but I’m struggling to find other people’s experiences at the other uni choices I have!

I am also leaning towards MMU due to their fashion week and lots of different exhibitions I could go to compared to somewhere like Loughborough!

I’d like to know if anyone knows more about the other unis and how they seem for their fashion design course, facilities, help for student etc! Anything is helpful right now!

I’m also a bit anxious as you can firm your choice but all my open days are after the portal opens to choose your accommodation - I think 2nd of may for MMU so I’d likely want to just have my firm choice by then as I don’t know if they will quickly go the living choices I like!

Thank you - sorry for how long this is!!

Hi @sophiehylandd

Congratulations on your offer to study Fashion Design at Manchester Met, this is great news!

As an offer holder, you will be invited to an Applicant Visit Day where you'll be able to chat with the academics and tour the facilities, as well as view accommodation and visit the Student Life Fair, where you can chat with accommodation, finance, admissions, placements and student support services. If you want to check dates, you're welcome to contact the team at [email protected].

You can chat with some of our current fashion students on our Chat Platform. Might be worth getting in touch with them to talk about the degree programme, and what it's like studying at the Manchester Fashion Institute and living in the city of Manchester.

Please try not to be anxious. I know there's a lot to think about but we're here to help. If you're worried about accommodation, you can contact the team at [email protected] or on 0161 247 2958.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions feel free to contact our Course Enquiries team on their Live Chat here (Monday to Friday, 9am-4pm) or on their Helpline on +44 (0)161 247 6969 (Monday to Friday, 10am-3pm).

Best wishes,
Mel 😊
