English literature a level and gcse

Hi everyone!

I am currently a year 11 student who has always loved English and always believed I would do A-Level. My problem is that the grades I receive in English are currently always 7s, and I’m struggling figuring out how to improve. I obviously know a-level is far more difficult so will it be a massive problem if I don’t know how to adjust my writing for exams. I use that online marker thingy and that gives me 8s instead of 7s but I’m just not sure whether I am cut out for a-level strictly grade wise. Any tips or advice?

just do past papers under timed conditions and treat it like an actual exam and after mark it but be strict with the marks you give bcs the examiners show no sympathy hope this helps

Talk to the relevant teachers about why you are 'always getting 7s' and what else you need to do,

If literature you need to write a contextualised response. Your introduction needs to identity WHY the writer constructed these characters for example - what did he/she want to convey? Then the main body needs to explore this. With language, you have to get the timing right, you have to write well on the two question 5's as they are a lot of marks (assuming you are doing AQA), you have to be perceptive and write a lot about a little (short quotes with a extensive development)
