UoM or UoB

I got an offer for UoM biochemistry with entrepreneurship and an offer for pure biochemistry at UoB. Which should I firm?

Uob as in Birmingham?
If so then what are you looking to get out of a uni? I have friends and Manchester who rave about it, plus it’s academically top tier. I’m at uob and love it, zero complaints, and also top tier education. Honestly at that point it boils down to gut feeling of where you should be, if the offers are the same

Hey!

Congrats on your offers!!
I would encourage you to go and visit both unis and cities to really get a feel for both and see which you fit better with- this really helped me when I was deciding which uni to pick! Both unis will probably have offer-holder or applicant days soon- look out for when those are and if you can attend! Also look into the differences in the modules available on both courses, there may be some that really interest you! You could also consider cost of living in both places, the accommodation available, what the city is like and the transport costs/ time to and from home!

I hope that’s helpful! Good luck!

As someone who goes UoB, with a best friend from UoM, there is a very big difference between the two uni’s. Despite the name, UoB feels like a uni in the middle of nowhere. The University of Birmingham is not located in or near Birmingham city centre, and most accommodations (including student houses) are pretty far from the city (but this does make them much cheaper). The University of Manchester on the other hand is pretty much engrained within the city, and is very close to big shops, high streets etc. In that sense, UoB feels quieter and calmer than UoM. Also, in my opinion, I feel that UoB has a nicer campus than UoM. As far as transport goes, I would say UoB wins due to the train station on campus. However, I personally feel that the people in UoM are nicer and more outgoing/understanding than those in UoB, but I feel this really depends on the person. Also I would strongly advise you to focus on accommodation costs when looking at the two uni’s as they differ quite a bit (unless ur commuting). Good luck! I’m sure you’ll make a good choice regardless of which uni you choose <3
