Level 3 qualifications / A-level subject choice

Hi everyone!

Hope we are all good.

I wanted to do a quick post around qualification choices and provide 3 top tips when considering what you should pick for your A-levels or other relevant qualifications if you are considering University.

Tip number 1: When choosing your A-levels/ BTECs, take a look at the university courses you might be considering. Beyond A-levels, see if they need you to have studied a certain subject as part of the entry requirements. If you do require a set subject, this may help you when you come to choose them.

Tip number 2: Another good tip to consider is look at subjects that you have a good interest in or even excel in more. This can mean you could go on to study that subject at University and further develop your knowledge within that field.

My final tip would be to keep your options open with what you choose. You could pick 2/3 subjects you are interested in, which can allow you to have flexibility and keep more options open to you when choosing a course at University.

I hope this is helpful. If anyone has any more tips, do add them below.

All the best

Jack

Picking what you're interested in is VITAL. Remember you're studying this for 2 years so you need subjects that are interesting to you!
Another tip is usually picking combos that work together or have some overlaps. Maths/Physics/Comp Sci is a classic. I chose English Lit/History/Sociology. It doesn't always matter, but it makes study easier. For example, using facts in history to develop contextual understanding of texts in English Lit.
