UCL Engineering Foundation Year (EFY)

Has anyone else applied to the UCL Engineering foundation year? If so for what branch?

Saw last year there was a group of people updating each other on their application process and thought I’d be a good idea for this years applicants to do the same.

I applied for Civil Engineering MEng

Finished college last year with a Merit in T-Level business management and Administration (120 UCAS Points). I got 4 in English language and 5 in Maths GCSE’s so I check all the academic boxes. My postcode, state school and fsm take care of the non academic ones.

For my personal statement I spoke about real world civil engineers, current ongoing difficulties and linked it all to my personal life to show I’ve independently studied it.

How about you?

I applied for Robotics and AI, im suprised about the lack of talk regarding the engineering foundation year. like past years there was chatter, this year i can barely find a thing online. not sure if that means everybody is staying quiet or less people applied.

Wouldn’t mind if less people applied considering the chances of getting in lol

oh yeah me too no doubt, but i just wonder if lack of talk means less applications. and even less applications, doesnt make it easier, the applicant pool could be really strong. anyways, how did you find the course? i found it on ucas and i saw '100 ucas points' and i was so shocked lol

For me it was the fact I didn’t like the degree I was doing. So i started looking for different courses at other unis and that’s how I found out about this one. Checked all the criteria and I thankfully meet it so thought I’d give it a shot. Are you currently in college?

Hello welcome to the conversation, it’s nice to hear from more people. It’s been a ghost town compared to last year. Hopefully it means less people have applied lol. You mentioned you knew some people that had gotten interviews, are these people you know or online?

People from my college, however not necessarily for this course but for other courses such as medicine. Online I have seen that many people got interviews during December ad got accepted January/February for other courses . I'm honestly just waiting for an interview. Equally I hope that not many people applied for this course .

I’ve also applied! I don’t know anyone else who has either. I’m kind of worried because according to previous years the assessment day is supposed to be between Feb-march and I haven’t heard anything yet

Welcome to the feed. It’s nice to see more people have also applied.

I wouldn’t worry about not having received a reply. Most are sent out by the end of February to early March as the assessment days will be held mid-late March 2026.

If you do receive a reply please let us know though and best of luck!
