Higher RMPS or SfW Health Sector?

Ok so im in S4 soon to go into S5 and we got our mock options form the other day and there was one column I wasn't sure whether to pick higher RMPS or health sector. I think doing national 5 RMPS and then leaving it a year and then coming back to it is maybe not a great idea, and I got my prelim results back today and I got 83% which is a LOT better than I thought I'd do so I think it makes sense to take it for S5. But when im older my dream job is to be a paramedic so health sector is probably a good move. My cousin also takes it at another school and I asked her about it and she said it was great. My friend is also considering doing it so I would also know someone. Does anyone know what could be the better option?

(Just for clarification, im doing to do both of them at some point, its just a matter of which one I do first)

Hello there!

I can see you’re very determined to get into the health sector and you are thinking about best choices in S4 moving to S5. Personally, I would choose the subjects that are most important in S5, since some universities look for completion of certain subjects in S5 so try researching about this. There is also no absolute problem of leaving a subject for a year and returning since I have done this with history which is essay based like RMPS. Though, to put if out there the jump from N5 to Higher is A LOT for some subjects and it is difficult to keep up sometimes, so if you feel like there’s a lot going on S5, picking it at S6 is a much better choice!

I don’t do health sector where I live but for example you don’t do well in S5, you can always resit it in S6 but of course check whatever university you’re applying to requires first-sittings only or not.

(Super out of touch question but is that jisoo)

i trying to reply to all posts for sqa that has been made within the last 3 years. This is because before the 3 years many student are still doing higher so giving them advice is more important and after 3 years many student has left or are not doing higher so giving them advice is not too important.
