KCL International Foundation Year

Hi guys, I applied for KCL's International Foundation Year, and today I just received an offer. While I'm happy that I got an offer, I'm scared that if I do decide to commit to it, I may not end up meeting the conditions for progressing into undergraduate study. Moreover, this really wasn't the pathway I intended to take after doing two years of IB. I guess I've always thought that from the IB I'd go straight into university, but I guess that didn't work out. I'm still happy with the offer; I'm just anxious that I would be wasting another year if I eventually don't meet the conditions for progressing into undergraduate study. So I guess my question is: is it difficult to progress? It would be helpful to receive answers from anyone who has done the KCL IFP. Also, I applied for the Politics, Culture & Social Sciences pathway if that matters. Thanks!

KCL IFP is a reputable programme and recognised by many competitive unis. The entry requirements are comparable to some less competitive UK unis. So if you have applied to other less competitive unis through UCAS, quite probable you would have received offers from those unis as well. You may forget KCL IFP if you are happy with those offers.

If your predicted grades do not meet the requirements of competitive unis for their undergraduate programmes and you heart is set on competitive unis, KCL IFP may be an option. As said, KCL IFP is also recognised by some competitive unis (Warwick, Queen Mary for example), you could apply to those unis (in addition to KCL) through UCAS during the IFP year.

Of course if you already have offers from competitive unis for direct entry to their undergraduate programmes, you may ignore IFP at the moment. Good luck.

Thanks for the info! My heart is truly set on progressing to KCL undergrad study, I'm just anxious that I may not be able to meet the conditions for progressing and the foundation year ends up being wasted.

Hey congrats on the offer! I also got an offer for the same pathway and I’m pretty scared with meeting the conditions for progression.

How cool! Congrats on the offer as well 😄 I'm sure if we both work hard, we'll be able to meet our conditions ^^
