predicted grades- a level resit

I gave my exams last year in 2025, obviously not with the expected outcome since I am taking a gap year to resit 2 of my A level subjects. I've already applied to university's through UCAS however, I wasn't made aware of the process for predicted grades . now my application has been sent with pending grades, since my school said they cant add in any predicted grades. I also wasn't sure on how I was meant to get predicted grades as the teacher who was going to input it into my reference, left the school in December without making me aware.

I just wanted it know if this would effect my application and any advice on what to do

Hey there,
This seems like a stressful situation to be in but don't worry here's some things you can do which may help:

Contact your school immediately and ask if they can provide an updated grades for your resits. Even if your previous teacher left, the school should be able to assign someone else who can submit this to UCAS. If UCAS allows changes, you can update your application with this. If offers are already made, inform the universities that you are resitting and will submit new grades as the application needs to be marked as a resit. Many universities have their own procedures for gap-year students or resits so it highly depends. Keep copies of your exam registration and proof of resits, as universities it may be requested to validate your application.

Make sure you document everything: emails with your school, UCAS messages and your resit plan. If you have specific universities in mind, you can try to contact their admissions teams directly, explain the situation and ask what they need from you to update your application.

Please do hurry with this process before any answers are made by your choices! Feel free to let me know updates and how things are going.

All the best, Aura (Uni of Staffs)
