Sheffield accommodation help

Hi, I am thinking about attending the university of Sheffield this summer and just wanted to hear from any current students what accommodation they’re in and all the positives and negatives that maybe won’t be seen online! I am open to literally anything (share bathroom, near uni, on site, en suites, one gender, all genders). Thank youuuu
Hello! I am currently a second year student but I lived in shared bathroom accommodation in Endcliffe student village in first year, so I can try and give you an overview of what it was like! If you put it as your firm choice, Sheffield lets you pick your flatmates based on profiles, so you can pick people who sound similar to you, and means you are more likely to get on with your flatmates. I had a great experience with my flatmates and living in shared accommodation was really easy overall.

The Endcliffe Student village seems to be where the majority of first year students live, and there is plenty going on. the Residence Life programme offers lots of free activities such as arts and crafts classes, mindfulness/exercise classes such as yoga, and waffle nights among many others! These are all included in your accommodation, and take part in the Edge building, at the centre of Endcliffe Village.
On weeknights, there is the community fridge, where volunteers bring in leftover food from supermarkets for free. There is also the Edge bar, which has affordable drinks, free pool tables, karaoke nights etc. The Ranmoor student village also has it's own version of this which I am less familiar with, but I will post a link to the accommodation page here. There is also info on city accom, for you to look at. Finally there is the Edge field, which has some BBQs, and is a really nice place to hangout in the summer months.

It is worth considering whether you want a sofa in your flat's communal space, as the shared bathroom flats don't tend to have them. In Vale flats, we had slightly bigger kitchens instead, and sat round the dining table so it was never really a problem, but it just depends on your preferences.

I hope this helps 🙂
If you have any other questions let me know!

hiya, also looking to come this year, unfortunately I cannot afford the accommodation in halls and so am looking private, would appreciate any advice for private halls that have a good mix of home students and are good value! Thank you
