Please go to offer holders days. You've got months to decide.

Warwick isn't in Warwick - that's a negative unless you love Coventry.

I'm a final year intergated masters chem student at warwick!

They have changed the curriculum now, but I believe it means you have more choice in modules (I didn't get to choose until 3rd year). The undergrad labs are so new and nice. I have learned so much from my course, and warwick is quite a targetted uni in terms of grad jobs (idk about bath tho). I like it on campus, it's pretty and feels safe. The SU nights are good, but u also have good accesss to coventry or leamington by bus (they run until early am for leam - idk about cov).

If u want to do a placement year/year abroad, maybe consider what unis/companies the uni is connected with to help u decide.

For Chemistry, Warwick is generally seen as quite solid academically. The course is well structured and balances theory and lab work, though the workload can feel intense at times.

Facilities are a strong point. Labs and teaching spaces are modern and well equipped, and you usually don’t feel limited by resources. It’s a good environment for focusing on your studies.

Campus life at Warwick is very self contained. Everything is in one place, which is convenient, and there are plenty of societies and activities. It suits people who like a campus feel rather than a city centre lifestyle.

The main downside for some is that it’s not a big city, so things to do are more campus based. But that also means a calmer environment and a strong study atmosphere.
Hi there !

I don't do chemistry personally but I do have some friends who do so I am able to talk a bit and I'm a current Bath student so can tell you a little bit about the city.

So at Bath, there is the opportunity to do a placement year in between 2nd and 3rd year which is a great opportunity to enhance your cv and get some real world experience. Our facilities are great and we are a campus university so all the teaching is done on site and we're situated on top of a lovely hill. There is plenty of eateries, markets, study spaces that you can enjoy which is convenient and useful if you're living on campus first year.

The city is a 15-20 minutes bus ride from the university or alternatively you can walk, cycle or scooter if you prefer. I would say Bath has a great mixture of country and city life for example there are great places to take walks but the high street has everything you need as well. There are also plenty of clubs, pubs in the city if you enjoy a social night although it won't be like the bigger cities but the majority of Bath is students so it's great when you're out and about. Bristol is also a 15 minute train ride away and we're very closely connected to the South West regions which is good for day trips away. London is also 1 hour and 15 minutes away via train too so plenty of options and connections to other parts of England.

I hope this helps! 😊

Hi!

I’m currently in my final year at Warwick, and I’d definitely say the university has a really welcoming community feel - mainly because it’s a campus-based university. Since most students live on or near campus, it’s very easy to meet people, especially in first year, and there’s a strong social atmosphere. There are loads of societies, sports clubs and events to get involved with, which means there’s still lots to do despite not being located in a big city. Academically, Warwick is very strong, with good facilities and excellent careers support. It’s well regarded by employers and is a target university for many roles, plus the location is convenient for travelling to London for interviews if you're applying to roles there.

Nonetheless, the campus lifestyle isn’t for everyone. Warwick is definitely quieter than a big city, and you might find that it feels a bit like a student bubble - whether you enjoy that or not depends on your preferences. However, Coventry and Leamington Spa are both easy to get to by bus, and Birmingham and London are also very accessible for days or nights out. Overall, I’d say balance up your priorities and pros of cons of each, and definitely try to visit both universities if you’re able to!

Hope that helps and let me know if you have any other questions!

Best wishes,
Jasmine (Student Ambassador)

Hi there!

Pros: Warwick is very academic and career-focused, which I’ve personally found to be a huge advantage. I came to uni not really knowing much about internships, placements, or career pathways, but there is so much support here (careers services, societies, networking events, employer talks). That’s actually what encouraged me to do a placement year.
Being a campus uni also means it feels very connected. You see people you know all the time, it’s easy to make friends, and there’s a strong sense of community. Everything is in one place, which is super convenient.
Cost of living is also relatively cheap compared to big cities, especially if you live in Leamington Spa. People are generally very friendly, and the facilities are really good (library, sports centre, study spaces). Societies are also very well run and highly respected, so there’s something for everyone.
Cons: Because it’s a campus uni, it can feel quieter than a city, and there’s definitely less to do on campus compared to somewhere like London or Manchester. That said, Warwick is only a short train ride from Birmingham, and Leamington Spa (where lots of students live) has a cute town vibe with cafés, bars, shops, and things to do.
Nightlife is another common criticism. We do have clubs and really fun student nights, but it’s not on the scale of massive city clubs or rave scenes. Personally, I think it matters more who you go out with, you can have a great time anywhere if you have the right crowd.
