History and politics at the uni of Warwick

Anyone that has studied/is studying hispol at Warwick, what pre-course reading and research could you recommend please? Thanks

History and Politics at Warwick is quite reading based, so doing some light pre reading helps. There’s no need to stress too much, it’s more about getting used to reading and thinking critically.

For History, some modern or political history reading is useful. For Politics, having a basic understanding of political theory and current issues is enough.

From a student point of view, Warwick cares more about how you think and discuss ideas rather than how much you already know. Showing interest matters most.

I'm a current Warwick history student and to be honest I didn't do any pre-course reading before I started - and nor was I expected to have done once I arrived!! Honestly I'd just say read books about your historical interests if you want to do something but otherwise don't stress about it too much! Please ask if you have any other questions 🙂
