Hey have you gotten an invite yet?
If this helps I applied for the BSc Speech and Language therapy course at City st Georges around 9th of December and I got an interview invite today (they've sent me a form telling me to pick my interview date)

Hi, great question! I’m a current Speech and Language Therapy student at City St George’s, so hopefully I can give you some useful information about the interview and how to prepare.

While I can’t share the actual questions, I can guide you on what kind of things the interviewers want to know and ways to get ready.

Firstly, the main thing they want to know is why you want to do the course. Think about how you’ve prepared, what you already know about being a Speech and Language Therapist, and the kinds of clients you might work with.

I’d also think carefully about your transferable skills while you might not have direct Speech and Language Therapy experience, you will have skills gained from work or volunteering which will apply to being a Speech and Language Therapist.

Finally, try to relax and enjoy it! Our lecturers are all lovely and hugely experienced, and they’re not trying to catch you out they want you to succeed and are genuinely interested to hear what you have to say.

I hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions about preparing for the course.

Hiya,

I didn't really use any specific resources, mostly just the RCSLT website - they have a great hub here: https://www.rcslt.org/speech-and-language-therapy/speech-and-language-therapy-hub/

I would also look on the RCSLT website for news, publications, that sort of thing - bonus if the research has been done by a lecturer/researcher at the university you're applying to!

In terms of finding people to speak to, I'd suggest asking around, looking on LinkedIn, politely messaging to ask if someone is willing to have a chat with you about their career. All the SALTs I've spoken to have been really lovely and keen to give back. I'd also look for SALTs in your local area and email or message them to ask for a chat or even work experience if they have time. The worst thing they can say is no

I made myself a crib sheet to prepare with the following headings:

General information

About the course (university specific)

What do you know about SaLT?

Why do you want to be a SALT?

What clinical or related experiences have you had?

Negatives/challenges of being a SALT and how you would deal with them

Personal goals

NHS Values and how your experience supports them

I hope that helps!
