Are these target unis for finance

Hi I’m wondering if this is a target course and uni for finance.

City - economics and accounting
Surrey economics and finance

Surrey over City imo. Neither are strong targets. Surrey is still a great university though

What are your predicted grades? Don’t put lots of pressure on yourself to go to a target. I saw last year that someone at Surrey got a placement year at Morgan Stanley. Someone I know personally got a TC at a top firm in law who goes Surrey also. Work experience and effort matters a lot

For my Btec which I have completed
I received an A (distinction)

For politics it’s A
And for economics it’s B
But I don’t think I can achieve this and
Most likely will be a B and a C

Pretty decent grades. You could check out lower-tier RG’s like Cardiff. You might be able to get into them. These would only be low semi-targets though.

I don’t think you’ll be able to get into a top target with ABC for a competitive course like finance though. Don’t worry though, it’s not the killer of future career prospects like RG-obsessed people say it is. Just take initiative, get as much relevant work experience as possible. Do loads of cold out-reaching etc and you’ll be fine

The idea of 'target' Unis is now a bit redundant. Employers no longer traipse round Unis for the 'Milkround' to recruit soon-to-be-grads. Increasingly employers are recruiting 'Uni blind' - they are far more interested in your degree result, relevant work experience / placements / internships, and 'interesting person' than just the Uni 'badge'.
