Uni choice disappeared from my application

When filling out my UCAS application I picked 5 choices (Northumbria, LJMU, MMU, Chester and UCLAN, all for the tourism management courses) but when my application was sent off my choice for UCLAN disappeared, why would this happen as I didn’t remove it off the application myself? Was this something my college changed or another thing with ucas?

Hey,
This is quite worrying to hear. It is unlikely that UCAS randomly removed the submission but there are a few possible explanations from my knowledge, usually depending on the scenario of who you are submitting through.

1.

Your centre removed it (e.g. school). They have the ability to change and approve applications before any final submission. If a choice did not meet their criteria they may have removed it without you realising. Please get in contact with your school to learn more if this was the case.

2.

The course became unavailable. If UCLAN withdrew or closed that course it may have been removed automatically but that can also be less likely to happen. Often this is due to restructures.

3.

If you submitted yourself, the choice may have not been confirmed. If it was added but not properly saved or validated before submission, it could disappear.

You need to check your UCAS Hub application history to see if anything shows up on there or ask your school to see if they amended your application and why. Alternatively contact UCAs to see when and how a change happened. Do keep us updated!

Hope that helps,

Your centre .....have the ability to change and approve applications before any final submission.
No, they do not. They can only view your choices and have no ability to change or delete them.

The course became unavailable.
In these circumstance, the course would have already been removed from the UCAS system by the University.

When you 'submit' your application, it goes to your school to add your reference/predicted grades and then they send your completed application to UCAS. They do not have any ability to change/delete your choices.

If your school has not actually sent your application to UCAS yet, they can 'return' it to you to change any details, and you then resubmit it to them.

Check with your school's UCAS person and find out what stage your application is at. If It has been sent to UCAS, then phone them - 0371 468 0 468. If they tell you that there is a 'blank' choice, you can still add this even after UCAS have received your application - assuming that course is still open after the UCAS Jan deadline.
