Should i repeat year 12? Please help me

I am currently in year 12 and am undertaking English Literature, History and Economics. I picked these subjects because i liked them but also because i thought they would be respectable and good for me. I decided my career path in becoming a private investigator, and thought that switching History out for Psychology would be good. However, my Sixth Form did not allow it due to me missing ‘too much content’ even when i proved i had managed to catch up and even managed to catch up. Recently, i have realised that the a-levels i have chosen might not be for me, especially Economics (i have already failed two exams and had to resit one, which i passed). History is fine but the content can sometimes get boring with the exam board we do, and i love English Literature.

I have been considering switching to a different sixth form in September and would instead take English Literature, Psychology and Philosophy & Ethics. I enjoy all of these subjects. I am still unsure though. Can people please help and give me advice? Thank you.

You sound very confused about what you are currently doing and where you are heading. Go and talk to your Head of Sixth or similar ASAP - just send them an email and say you need to see them. They will know how to help.

And btw, "private investigators" usually have a police background -

Have you looked into potential career paths or options after sixth form at all?
Changing options wouldnt really give you any more options for after sixth form so you’d basically be spending an extra year on a levels so you can do subjects you enjoy better for 2 years rather than putting up with ones you aren’t a massive fan of for a year and a half. If you genuinely think youll struggle to get good grades with these subjects due to lack of interest and that will limit your options then consider switching- at least contact some other sixth forms and ask if they would have places available for someone in your situation.
Is there any reason you would have to move sixth form? If you love English lit at your current sixth form you cant guarantee that you will have equal teaching quality or good texts at a different school. You thought you enjoyed the subjects you picked so dont rush into a new school with new subjects unless you think its absolutely necessary and right for you 🙂
