Tbh I did the PAT this year for materials science but they removed it for next year which was just annoying. I think there's positives and negatives to the situation. One one hand it does decrease the stress that people will face sitting 1 admission test rather than 2 and centralises everything but it does mean that they put all their eggs in 1 basket. However people taking the lnat face the same situation so it'll be interesting to see how it pans out tbh

Btw folks, if this is news to you - Oxford has announced the cancellation and replacement of all of its in-house admissions tests for next year's admissions cycle onwards. Tests like the TSA, MAT and PAT will be replaced with UAT-UK tests (TMUA, ESAT and TARA) as currently used by Cambridge, Imperial and several other selective Universities.

I think it’ll make it harder.
The PAT test is easy.
I think it’ll make it harder for people to get in as the test will have less people pass. So easier for the uni and selections but harder for anyone to secure interviews etc. I think they’ll take less people though to the interview stage.

I feel like it’s the opposite and the ESAT is easier than the PAT but I guess it depends what your strengths are
