Year 12 summer

I'm currently in Year 11, and I don't know what to do for the summer. I've looked at some Imperial summer challenges like the year 11 summer STEM challenge, but it seems they mostly accept students from underrepresented backgrounds. I'm not attending a UK state school so I wouldn't qualify for it. I'm looking for recommendations maybe challenges, job experience, volunteer work, research papers, etc. Planning on studying (Chemical) Engineering at university so maybe things related to that.

Try to look for some work experience if you can or read about chemical engineering if that’s your passion but you honestly don’t need to do anything to academic. You’ll have the whole year 12 to do it and there is barely any opportunities for year 11 but in year 12 there is so much. Maybe sign up to the email lists of some universities/programmes you might want to do in year 12.
