Uni student who is resitting a level maths

Hello, I am a first year at university studying economics and I am retaking A level maths.

So far, I’ve basically done nothing. All I’ve been doing is the maths I’ve been doing at university so simple integration, differentiation et cetera with more of an economics application. I’m pretty confident I got a first class in my maths module too, but the again it’s basically just AS stuff.

Is it possible for me to get from pretty much nothing (I got a D in the actual thing) to an A or A* within 4 months privately without a tutor? Otherwise there’s no point of me retaking and I may as well cancel the retake. I’m willing to take up 4-6 hours a day if not more to revise every single day from now on and I’ve made a wager against myself too.

The reason I am retaking was to get enough UCAS points in order to meet the requirements for Internships.

What are the best steps to approach this, now that I have much more free time from before during September-December?

The way I wanted to approach it was to pretty much attempt a past paper after I’ve done enough practice before the deadline of refunding my retake and see if I’m at a minimum B level by the end of February and try get to an A/A* from March to June.

Thank you all for your patience.

Why are you spending 4 to 6 hours a day on an A level in the middle of a degree. First year at Uni is stressful enough, why on earth are you adding to this and imagining that that is any sort of 'good idea'? All you are doing here is sabotaging your degree. Not everyone gets internships, it doesn't matte. Its not any sort of guarantee for a magic career or a happy life. Drop the A level - get back to your degree and work at that instead.

First year of university is not difficult at all actually. There is no better year to do it except that I do it this year. This is not the only reason I want to resit, I have other reasons too. I am aware of what I am already doing.I’ve already sat most of my exams anyway, I have two more and they’re easy and all of them come before A level Maths.

Hi, its absolutely possible to go from a D to A in 4 months. It will take structured, focused study.
I would say first create a study schedule
Morning: new topic learning + worked examples
Afternoon: targeted practice questions on that topic
Evening: Review mistakes, flashcards and formulae
Rotate topics daily so you're covering everything systematically.

Be Strong, after all strengthening your Maths will open extra doors for you. Keep it UP!
