Oxford to switch to UAT-administered entrance exams, dropping MAT, PAT, TSA, etc

No more MAT, PAT, etc.

Thoughts? I don't think this will be good for Oxford physics, as I know a lot of Olympiadlevel folks chose Oxford because the PAT better rewarded slow-but-deep thinking than the more time-sensitive ESAT.

I wonder if the re-centering of TMUA was in part to prepare for this...

Not a huge fan, I think Oxford's admissions tests had a certain charm in them being around for over a decade and having so much past papers to practice off of, not to mention them being conventionally harder than their UAT-UK equivalent which is a good benchmark. But, this will certainly encourage higher application numbers, as one of the main factors of people choosing bridge over ox was the separate admissions tests. I suspect their interview cutoffs will be quite high too.

It will make Oxford seem far more accessible - no doubling up of aptitude tests that may be off putting to some applicants.
