oxford reapply

hi!
i applied to oxford this year for maths and got an interview, but got rejected on offer day
i am due to receive my MAT score and my interview score, but considering i applied with predicted grades lower than their minimum expectation and still getting an interview leads me to believe my MAT must have been good, but my interview may not have been as strong, and of course, they have plenty of A* across the board applicants too which is a bit unfortunate on my side
i still want to give it another shot, maybe prepare more for interviews and stuff, as i was CONVINCED I wasnt getting an interview as my predicted grades were bad and i thought i flopped the MAT, so i didnt prepare as much as i could've.
i dont want to take a gap year, but hopefully ill go to ucl/warwick/kings, and i would hopefully get 3A*s in maths fm and physics.
having a (hopefully) decent MAT score from the year previously, and being rejected post interview, would reapplying whilst being at university be a viable option? maths is a bit fiddly because of entrance tests ans things, and im also not sure how reapplying works tbh
and if i were to reapply, would applying to imperial also be worthwhile? i havent taken the tmua, and taking it as a first year uni student compared to y13s may put me at a disadvantage, but i am looking to do step this year, so maybe they could take that into consideration at some point too haha

advice would be much appreciated! thank you!

I think next year oxford are switching from the MAT to TMUA so you would only have to take one entrance exam if you wanted to apply to imperial as well, which i would say is definitely worth applying to if you do decide to take a gap year. I repeated a year and i'm very glad I did, it gave me more time to think about uni and fully decide where i want to go and mentally prepare for it and stuff. also do you know when the MAT scores are due to be released?

I've no knowledge of maths admissions at Oxford, but please bear in mind that you will likely not be considered if you enrol at another UK uni and then try and apply to Oxford during your first year at said other uni: https://uni-of-oxford.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/547/related/1

MAT scores hopefully to be released this week or next week at the very latest, which would give me a better idea. other than that, i honestly would prefer to not take a gap year, is it still possible to be attending one university and apply from there to oxf and imperial? i understand the main concern is about fees and money being lost, but i just wondered if it was still an option 🙂 thank you!

No you can’t apply to Oxford if you have already started at another uni unless there is some exceptional reason.

hmm yes I have seen after doing some more research. what do you think constitutes as an exceptional reason?

To get an interview with predicted grades sub-par, you surely must have aced your admissions test…
I would reapply with actuals if you meet the minimum.

It virtually never happens so difficult to say. Also maths tutors do not like gap years.Email a few colleges and ask. Also you would have to retake the entrance exam.
