I got my results today, and I was really disappointed. I failed VSA (concise answer questions), which hurts and is disappointing, given that I did my best, consistent revision. The thing is, I want to avoid resitting. Yes, I got 20%, and the pass mark is 40%, but I was 10 marks off. The grades came back too quickly. It is impossible to mark 166 students in 8 days. They also gave percentage sheets showing how many questions would be weighted in the exam. It didn’t go as mentioned. Biopharm should have been 2 questions, but they brought in like 4 (so I put that as my less priority, based on the list they gave me). The wording of the questions was ridiculous.
The average pass rate was 49%, but according to second years, last year was above 50%, meaning most people passed. I want to avoid the resits because it is actually not fair to resit first semester. They shouldn’t mark it so roughly. Also, my academic mentor. I asked for the average. He said everyone pretty much did better than me, which hurts a lot because a acedemic mentor is like a thearpist and guide students rather than demotivating them. He didn’t tell me the average until I heard it from my friends.
NOT TO FORGET I HAVE DYSLEXIA THE ONLY REASON IM MENTIONING THIS IS BECAUSE THERE WAS A QUESTION THAT WAS WORDED SOO BAD AND COMPLICATED MY FIRST ANSWER WAS RIGHT BUT I CHANGED LIKE 5 TIMES THEN GOT THE WRONG IN THE END.
(I just need tips for the appeal what to mention to avoid resit because i booked a holiday and want to avoid changing because there is a fine and also semister 2 is hard i cant balance and get a good revision technique my mom is sick when she heard the news and my dad doesnt know about it because high blood pressure)
