UOB offer - accountancy

Hi I am currently on a gap year and I am retaking A level Maths. I originally got BBC in my a levels with a C in maths but I am predicted an A now. Last year I applied to computer engineering at UOB and my offer went from AAB to BBB due to contextual offer and I partook in the realising opportunities programme. I changed courses and the offer is AAA for accountancy but if I apply with ABB (A predicted, BB achieved) do you think I have a shot of getting an offer?

Which UOB is this as there are many (Bath, Bristol, Birmingham, Bradford, Brighton, Bournemouth .....) and that makes a big difference as to who will offer you?

Hi there,

I think its always healthy to have an ambitious choice of uni who ask for 1-2 grades above what you're predicted/achieved. But at the end of the day its impossible to say whether or not you'll still get an offer because it depends on how popular your Accountancy course is that year and how many people apply for it with the asking grades etc, and many factors you cannot control.

So I'd definitely say apply for Birmingham if you like this uni, but be sure to keep a couple of other choices in mind for Accountancy who perhaps ask more in the region of ABB to give you some back up if they can't make you an offer. I'd even suggest ringing them up to ask someone from admissions directly if they'd consider someone with your stats, so you can get a bit more information.

Its great that you're now predicted an A in Maths because having that ABB will open up a lot of doors to you to good unis - its just about finding a couple more courses you think you'll find interesting.

Hope this helps a bit and best of luck with everything 🙂

For uob with the realising opportunity programme the contextual offer for accountancy would be ABB minimum (assuming you passed all the parts related to realising opportunity but make sure you email the admin team to ensure it carries over for another application). I think you do have a shot of getting an offer but like Uni of Bath said its not a guarantee as its also dependent on other things and tutor discretion. I would definitely still give it a shot though as you'll never know if you dont apply! - sincerely, someone who entered uob on their access programme to accounting and finance and worked uob admissions as a student.
