What to expect in LJMU Pharmacy assessments?

Hi! I've been asked to complete the Healthcare Scenarios and Pharmacy assessments for Liverpool John Moores University as part of my pharmacy application. Can anyone share what types of maths questions/ questions or scenarios came up for you? How did you prepare, and what was the interview like? Any advice or tips would be appriciated.

You don't really need to prepare for it since it's just testing your empathy skills and seeing how you would react to healthcare scenarios. Then at the end they give you a rating on how well you did but I don't think it affects your chances of an interview that much unless you are like completely non-empathetic. The questions are all pretty much common sense and using your own judgement so no need to worry!

So wait if the assessments consist of scenarios and maths questions, what exactly will the interview be?

My bad, I should have worded it better. It is more like a personality test and a situational judgement test, so it's not really something you can revise for. In the interview they ask scenario and maths based questions and questions like why do you think you are suited for pharmacy and what you know about the role of a pharmacist. I can't recall any maths questions being asked in the pre-interview test but you will definitely be asked one in the interview and you get scenario type questions in both. But yeah overall I would say that pre-interview test is more like a personality test.

Hi,

As mentioned above, the pre-assessment consists of scenario-based questions designed to assess your personality.

While specific questions can’t be shared, a great way to prepare for any pharmacy school interview would be to review your interest in the course, why you chose this university, GPhC standards, situational judgement or ethical scenarios, and basic pharmaceutical calculations.

Hope this helps, please do let me know if you have any other questions.

I also was wondering how the pharmacy course is? Do you enjoy it? Is it supportive and diverse?

I really enjoy the course, it’s well structured with a mix of lectures, labs, clinical workshops, and simulated learning. From first year, you start building both the academic knowledge and practical skills needed for life as a pharmacist, which makes it engaging.

Lectures are really approachable and supportive with opportunities to book one on one appointments if needed. You also have help from personal tutors, module leads, and year leader. There are regular revision sessions and workshops to help you prepare for assessments.

LJMU is diverse, and we have many societies for all interests to join through JMSU our student union.
