Nottingham Trent or University of Law

Looking to study an LLB at one of these two institutions. Which would you recommend ?
Hi @Risephoenix1490 ,

Both are excellent institutions and similar in many ways - each have a strong emphasis on practical teaching, require similar grades (120 UCAS points vs BBB) and tuition fees, and maintain incredible links with the legal profession.

Choosing where to study your LLB will therefore be a more personal decision which depends on your career goals, financing options and desired student experience:

Career Goals - At NTU, all students complete at least eight weeks of assessed work-like experience as part of their course, with the option of also completing a placement year. At ULaw this work-experience isn't compulsory, but you will have a wide variety of opportunities to choose from thanks to the university's employability and pro bono programmes. The reputation of ULaw's career service is often one of the main factors influencing students to attend (I personally couldn't ask for better support!).

Financing Options - While tuition fees at both universities are similar, do consider how accommodation (if needed), living costs and travel may differ. ULaw has fantastic modern campuses across the country (including Nottingham) so costs may vary according to location, whereas those for NTU may be more consistent. You can find out more about ULaw's Nottingham campus here.

Student Life - If you prefer smaller class sizes where you're being taught more by practitioners than career academics, ULaw may be the better choice for you. The student experience is arguably slightly quieter and more professional focused because of this; you may find NTU has more active student sports teams and societies on offer, though students are encouraged to join these at ULaw too!

Ultimately, the best way to decide is to get a feel for the atmosphere yourself - I’d highly recommend booking onto an open day for both. Best of luck with your decision, you've got two great options ahead of you 😊

If you want a conventional University campus student experience go to NTU.
Uni of Law sites are just an office block with none of the student facilities you would expect.
