Foundation year

Im currently in year 12,sitting for my AS level exams in June 2026.My AS subjects are maths, physics and chemistry to study engineering at uni. I already got 8A*s on my O levels (maths, physics, chemistry, biology,ICT,environmental management, english as a second language and Arabic as a first language). Im hoping to get into uni this year without completing my A levels.Obviously AS level only isnt enough to get me into uni in the uk but I dont mind doing a foundation year.I recently found out that I cant get into a foundation year without completing my A levels???Even if i got AAA on AS level I still wouldn’t get into a foundation year? Please let me know if any universities would accept AS students into their foundation years without completing their A levels.

Are you hoping to get into a foundation year at a uni in the uk?
It will vary based on whether you are applying in the uk or overseas but for uk foundation year courses there will still be entry requirements. Some might have entry requirements based only in ucas points which you can get from AS levels but it is quite unlikely you will be able to get onto a foundation year program at a good university. Some foundation year courses are very competitive for application because of their limited spaces.
Also if applying for a uk uni, the ucas deadline has already passed so you would have to go through clearing or apply past the equal consideration deadline which was on the 15th.

it depends on the university, but it is not true that AS levels are automatically disqualified from foundation years.
