applying for student finance for accommodation

I have not idea as a parent how to go about applying for student accommodation and where to start

can someone help me

It depends on which uni as they all have different dates for when their accommodation portals open but they will email you these details after receiving an offer.
The student maintenance loan can be used for whatever you want, there is no loan just for accommodation, it's up to you what you want to use the maintenance loan for, we pay for our son's accommodation so he can use the maintenance loan for food, clothes, going out etc. He only qualifies for the basic amount so it wouldn't cover his accommodation costs anyway

Just to add that you can't apply for accommodation until your child has chosen their firm uni and they can only apply to that uni, if they end up with their insurance uni on results day you would then apply for accommodation at that point
