can i move over to paeds after completing a full adult nursing course in uni?
hi, i recently was declined an offer to a child nursing course after my interview. this has deflated me completely, but i'm still wanting to pursue a career in paediatric nursing.
i have been offered a chance to interview for an adult nursing course. if i was to successfully pass this, and do the course, would i be able to transfer to paeds nursing? if so, would i have to do the full child nursing course, or is there a 'conversion' course/ 'top up' training that i can do?
i have also seen that NICU accept newly qualified adult nurses, can anyone confirm this?

You might be able to swap courses at the end of your first year as a student adult nurse ( if success with offer after interview - you'll need to speak to your university about it as they might not have any allocated spacers for 2027/28 intake but nothing to lose asking.
In meantime do the adult nursing course for the 3 year's and apply for a job working as a adult nurse on the children's ward's - you can work all the qualified children nurses.... There's no conversion course for adult nurse to children nurse as far as I know.
NICU jobs tends to require some previous experience as a nurse before you can apply for this.
Only available conversion course at the moment is for adult nurses to do midwifery.... If still available at universities and local hospitals.
