My GYG for 2026

Hello! I know I’m a bit late but I had been looking at these posts for a while so I decided to join in now I have sat prelims and the exam lock in begins.
I’m in S6 and I’m expecting to have all conditionals for uni so I’ll put below my subjects and prelim grades!

I’m currently studying-
Advanced Higher Geography (idk yet probably bad tho)
Higher Business Management (B)
Higher Administration and IT (A)
Higher Photography (No award)

I’m actually happy with these results as I always struggle with prelims so I’m happy to have even passed some!
Photography’s prelim only takes the written exam into consideration (20%) and we weren’t even taught majority of that before the prelim so getting 36% isn’t killing me.
I’m very happy with business and admin as I sat these while having the flu and these are the best scores I’ve had in a higher prelim.
I only sat geography this week as it is taught by another school and I have been struggling with it so I’ll probably mention my results in the next one.

Thanks for making it this far I’m hoping I can stay accountable with this and hopefully get into any of my university’s courses
Cya soon!

Very interesting subjects! Which course did you apply for university? I can’t think of any on the spot XD
Those are some good results as well, well done! I’m still waiting to get some of my results back for my advanced higher prelims (I haven’t even done some yet)

Thank you!! best of luck with your results
I’m applying for a mix of business with strong marketing elements and marketing alone (UWS, GCU and Heriot Watt)

Business and marketing? I’ve heard that Strathclyde is apparently quite good for business but to be honest, you probably know more than I do XD

I loved the look of their marketing and business administration courses but they required higher English and I just hated the ways it was taught in my school so I really didn’t want to sit it after N5, I did ask at their open day but they said that they are too competitive to give any offers without it

I’m currently doing Higher English (after skipping Nat 5) and I’ll tell you, the course ain’t fun. It’s all just really fast paced stuff and PRAYING that you get a good marker who thinks the answers are good. That’s why I prefer the science and maths subjects tbh :P

I hope the best for your results, I felt the same in N5 and I actually enjoyed a lot of the content but if you don’t have the support from your teachers then you just won’t succeed, I like that about science subjects too and I’m really liking that adv higher geography is more sciencey than the other years!

I’ll just be surprised if I get an A to be honest. For my advanced highers, I’ve had ZERO teacher support as no one in my school can teach me advanced highers so I’ve just been revising A LOT during the November and December :>
I think when I hear people complain about how difficult national 5 is, I just so like… “ehhhhhh…” cause it’s like the jump between each grade is RIDICULOUS yet SQA still expect us to somehow to do it :P

I get that my school isn’t running adv geography so we’ve had calls with another teacher and idk if it’s how she teaches or what but no one understands it and then if you upload work without completing 100% then she doesn’t mark it and she doesn’t even really give feedback, hopefully you can get through the advanced highers you are sitting, I’ve not heard a school that runs a course that they don’t have teachers to teach so that must be ridiculously hard best of luck

I personally have found the course easy (most likely because I’m somehow really good at remembering things or I am just good at maths and science, can’t tell tbh) but hearing how your AH geography has went, THAT MUST SUCK. You need more luck than I do, having a teacher that barely gives feedback is genuinely so sad :<

⭐️Update: 25/1/26⭐️

When I made this I was in the trenches with toothache so I didn’t have a set plan yet, but as the antibiotics begin to work here’s what I’m doing!

Yesterday I started feeling better in the evening so I started off some finance flashcards as I have a test on Tuesday and I doubt how well I will do after missing an entire week.

Aim for today is to finish those flashcards and then try to teach myself the different financial ratios and anything else I missed

For the following week (may change in another update)

Monday- no time school then other commitments

Tuesday- school then some admin theory recall

Wednesday- school then the Glasgow Uni top up (exciting!) then only essential work and I have a study in school so I’ll do some catch up from the week before

Thursday- school then driving lesson then some photography catch up

Friday- school then early finish so if I don’t make plans with friends I’ll do some business work

Saturday- Other commitments until 14:30 then probably stuff with family may study at night

Sunday- studying when I can

*Update :28/1/26*

Monday- I managed to fit in some time to do a page of past paper questions on finance for my test.

Tuesday- I went through all my Flashcards with a friend before the test and then I decided to prioritise my geography instead of geography because the teacher wants us to do another essay over the next few weeks so i made good progress with that.

Wednesday (today)- I have already done 5 points for my business assignment in my inschool study as well as some admin recall, still have to do some more and the top-up programme later.

Thursday- school, driving and finishing my write up for my first photography shoot.

Friday- school, dentist and then some more business assignment

Saturday and Sunday- Im still not sure whats happening!

Other tasks I need to do at some point=
Geography plan needs finished
photography shoot 2 upload pics, write up, etc
Business assignment
Admin catch up

I’m feeling quite on top of my work!!

Cya soon GYG

*Update 30/01/26*

Wednesday and Thursday went well I finished my analysis (first draft atleast) for my business assignment, I also finished my barista portfolio for barista skills ~Finally~ and I finished the write up for my first shoot in photography!!

I’m going to try to finish any other barista work I have to be finished with the course for next week and then I can focus on the classes I need for my uni offers!

I’m going to do a weekly to do list coz what I do each day depends on what I am doing in my classes and I can’t really predict that to make an accurate to do list, so;

- business assignment research
-admin databases practice
-photography write up shoot 2
-photography photo research
-barista skills anything left
-geography get up to where the teacher wants (I think that’s two assignments)
-leadership essay

I’m probably going to end up with more to do so I’ll see you soon GYG

Over and out!

*I’m Back 24/2

sorry it has been so long I promise that it doesn’t mean I haven’t been working I have just not been able to update this needless to say I will now!

Done (since last time)-
-photography shoot 3
-photography shoot 3 write up
-leadership essay
-top up programme work x3
-more ub revision pages
+business hr notes
+rewriting some of the business assignment
+admin homework
+applied to colleges as a back up
+more (little things like attending supported study, etc)

I have also did quite a lot for my sports outside of school like a training camp over the weekend which has accounted for a lot of my time recently, as well as driving lessons lol.

My to do list now includes
-shoot 2 write up (almost done)
-photographer research (only second photographer left)
-admin theory revision (currently on hold due to the assignment looming)
-geography issues essay
-geography study essay
-more ub revision pages
-attend supported studies
-photography shoot 4 file transfer
-photography shoot 5
-photography shoot 6

If I somehow get both of those shoots done within the next week or two then I will be ecstatic and my to do list will have a much bigger revision focus, I am just struggling to fit in as much studying right now due to trying to meet teacher deadlines for shoots.

I’m hoping to get more done on the three days a week where I have spare time outside of sports and driving lessons (as I try to take them on days I’m already busy to free up the rest of the days so that I can focus)

Sorry for the long one today but I feel that a good update was due!

Cya soon!!
