Defered year at university but applying to a level 3 course

I deferred my university place until December 2026 due to personal and medical reasons. Since then, I’ve realised that returning to university may not be the right path for me, although I haven’t made a final decision yet. I’ve been offered a place on a Level 3 course that runs part-time once a week, which is something I feel I can manage alongside my current circumstances. I start this course next week. However, I am still officially enrolled with the university, as I didn’t want to withdraw without having a concrete and realistic plan in place.

I wanted to confirm whether it is acceptable to remain enrolled at the university while beginning this part-time course.

Starting a part-time Level 3 course alongside holding a deferred university place is usually fine, as long as you are not actively studying two higher-education courses at the same time. However, if you are receiving (or plan to receive) Student Finance for your university place, you should be aware that funding rules do not allow overlapping HE study.
As you are currently deferred and not in attendance, remaining enrolled while you explore other options is acceptable. If you later decide that returning to university is no longer right for you, you can formally withdraw at that point.
